Same thing happened at our school in San Carlos. Would be interested in joining any efforts to recover tuition.

I got suckered into this. I went to their website and registered for the march 15th tournament. Looks like it is a scam. The registration check got cashed but
no response from Mr/Mrs. Huges regarding this tournament. I have left several
messages and emails.

I'm sorry to hear this news. Unfortunately, I am sure that tournament was held on March 15, 2008. The KnowChess website hasn't been updated in a long time; some pages say last updated in 2008, others in 2007. Apparently they have completely gone out of business. However, that does not explain why they cashed your check.
